Your theory is very similiar to mine, which is that Harry's innate 
magic CHANGED the order of the Priori Incantatum.  I do think it was 
a true PI, but because Harry was thinking of his dad "more than any 
other tonight" (GoF, Ch 34) it changed from Lily 1st to James 1st out 
of the wand.
