In real life I provide therapy to emotionally disturbed and
physically/sexually abused children - if I thought for one second that JKR
condoned any kind of adult-child sexual relationship - which has scarred,
perhaps permanently, so many of the kids I work with - I'd join up with the
most hardcore fundamentalist group I could find to get HP banned.

I do think you're reading "too much" (i.e., your own little fantasies) into
it. Adult sexual designs upon children are invariably depraved. Lupin does
not want to jump Harry's bones. Lupin's departure is clearly motivated by
  societal prejudice against werewolves.

      Send those flames to:

Caius, I think you're misreading Susan (and I can, of course speak for her) the point is not that Lupin wants to assult HP, but the reluctance that many adults have to touch any children - even their own. the parrell is the scandal about alledged sexual abuse and scandal about Lupin being (poor bugger) a werewolf.

have a look at some of the back posts on child abuse - we've discussed it alot because it is so central to Harry's experance between 15 months and 11 years old.
