Interesting post, as always, Peg.  I would argue, however, that the 
above is possibly not a good example.  I think that while Sirius was 
certainly driven partially by anger, he was also being logical.  
After all, the proper authorities are a bunch of inept idiots led by 
Cornelius Fudge, who let Sirius take the blame for a crime he didnt 
commit by jailing him without a trial.  It seems like common sense, 
in that case, to take the law into your hands.  Sirius knew he would 
be caught, he was risking his life to go after and kill Pettigrew so 
as to keep Harry save.  IMHO he was trying to do the right thing, but 
it is true that he also wanted to murder the #$*)&@# in cold blood.
