Then why does Barty Crouch, who we now know to be Voldemort's most
faithful and trusted servant, say the following?:
"Karkaroff fled tonight, when he felt the Dark Mark burn upon his
arm. He betrayed too many faithful supporters of the Dark Lord to
wish to meet them...but I doubt he will get far. The Dark Lord has
ways of tracking his enemies."
That seem pretty unambiguous to me, particularly when put in the
context of V. saying that the one who has left forever will be
killed "ofcourse".
Therefore I think there is pretty strong canon evidence that
Karkaroff is indeed the one who has left forever and Snape is the
coward.
