Something like that occurred to me too, but more in the context
of "if you know someone's true name, you have power over that
person" (common folkloric belief); that might be a reason for
Dumbledore to use a fuller version of the name.  (Going around
calling V. "I-Am-Lord-Voldemort" might be both cumbersome and
confusing!)
