It wouldn´t surprise me if it involved the wiarding world. Like that 
the Ministry of Magic arrived to zap them home, in the maintime 
giving them instructions for how to behave around Harry or whatever. 
And I think we´ll find out about the whole humiliating scene later on 
(in an outbreak from Vernon for example). I do wonder if the Dursleys 
hasn´t had alot more contact with the wizarding world than we know 
about.
