He didn't know about dragons but he must have known it would be 
something dangerous and he must have known half the school had Potter 
Stinks" buttons, he must have know his best friend was miserable.

That's  not clear to me at all. Ron was 100% in the wrong Harry 100% 
in the right. I think Harry was very restrained, I would have knocked 
Ron's block off.
