I suspect that he also doesn't really understand the power
relationship between Lord V. and the DE's.  He's used to seeing
Lucius in positions of authority and respect, being treated
deferentially by one and all due to the family wealth and rank.  The
first sight of a cringing Daddy grovelling to Lord V. is going to be
a big jolt.
