This fanfic/canon debate is interesting. I haven't read much fanfic and so far it hasn't colored my view of the books and I don't think it will. However, I have seen the Anne of Green Gables movies and read the books many times and sometimes forget if a certain event happened in the movies or books. I hope this doesn't happen to me when the HP movie comes out.
