Also if Crookshanks were an animagus, he would have
shown up on the Marauder's Map under his real name.
Lupin would have seen this, as he was looking at the
map and saw Pettigrew on it. Crookshanks was in this
scene at around the same time, so Lupin would have
seen another name show up.
