It was most likely in the mid-1300s. Unfortunately, we don't have an 
exact date, as you mentioned, but it was at the same time or 
relatively near after the time of the "enlightened" Elfrida Clegg, 
who put the Golden Snidget a protected species, and she was Chief of 
the Wizards' Council about a century after 1269, when the first 
Golden Snidget was released at a "Cuaditch" match.
