Marauder's Map problem

There may be one very good reason why Peter Pettigrew did not appear on the
Marauder's Map, and I don't remember seeing anyone suggest this possibility:
As one of the manufacturers of the Map, his presence may be magically
excluded from showing.  The Marauders may have included an Invisibility
Charm that prevented James, Sirius, Remus, or Peter from appearing on the
map themselves, just in case it fell into "enemy" hands.
