Yes, I just can't believe that JKR will go this way with the story. Harry's
magical abilities represent the power of imagination and creativity in the
world. He stands in absolute contrast to the Dursleys who are cruel because
they have no imagination or creativity ("MOTORBIKES DON'T FLY!") and are
scared by anyone who has. They are obsessed with material possessions and
what the neighbours think because that's all they have. Who wouldn't rather
be Harry in his broom cupboard, than Dudley, with his two bedrooms full of
toys? And look at the one squib we know - a killjoy who's as cruel as he
can get away with being. Everyone needs a little magic in their lives.
