Good question, to which I don't have any answers, just a slight nitpick.  
It's actually a boggart in the training sessions, so I imagine it affects 
only Harry in a Dementor-like way.  Lupin's greatest fear is the moon, as we 
see.  But I imagine being a werewolf is pretty depressing - when the 
Dementors are around, I imagine he sees and hears people he respects or 
cares about drawing back from him in horror...telling him he'll never be 
able to live any kind of a normal life, or relives actual incidents of this 
nature.
