Quicker to read :)!  I *thought* I was a fan, but this list has really sent 
me back to the text and given plenty of food for thought, so thanks to

Agree that the books are not *about* this stuff, it just goes with the 
territory.  I think you have to count death as a major theme, so (thank you, 
Doreen!) I'm also looking at clocks and watches.
