I'm writing (teehee!):
I think that the innocent thing may be a cover-up for Hufflepuffs who are 
loyal to V. They'd also be very biased toward him if they're so loyal to him, 
and wouldn't see the wrong in their ways. They would most likely rather die 
than quit serving their evil lord.
