I have no doubt in my mind that JKR intends the story to go exactly 
as we've all assumed: V. kills James, then Lily, then tried to kill 
Harry. But that isn't what the text says. While we've all been 
worried about the order of James and Lily out of the wand, we missed 
the fact that she made a larger error. That page in the Lexicon 
simply explains what the text exactly says to point that out.
