First Post - Veela's

I was wondering if anyone had any theory's/ideas about what veela's are?

The only thing that we know from  the books are that they are female and 
they have a powerful influence on the male's they are around.   Even Fleur 
who is part veela has the same effect on Ron.  Any theories on how this 
happens..?
