what surprised you the most?

i was wicked surprised when scabbers turned out to be peter pettigrew. 
but unlike harry, i immediately believed lupin.  (i guess i couldn't 
stand the idea that one of my favorite characters would be that 
horrible.)
what has also surprised me, overall, has been snape's treatment of 
neville.  i have read various theories of why this is on this 
newsgroup, but it really shocked me when i first read the books.  it 
continues to be one of those things i can't wait to see get resolved, 
or at least explained.
