That fact was only mentioned in an interview with JKR with Barnes &
Noble.com.
Susan's grandparents were mentioned in a group of "some of the best
witches and wizards of the age" by Hagrid in SS when he's telling
Harry about Voldemort, although we aren't told then their
relationship to Susan. Later, we meet Susan briefly when she is
sorted into Hufflepuff, but still aren't told that there is a
connection to the folks killed by Voldemort. Those are the only times
we hear anything of Susan or her family.
JKR was asked in that interview if there was a connection between
Susan and the Bones that Hagrid mentioned and JKR said that the Bones
who were killed were Susan's grandparents.
