Presumably Dumbledore had to let the parents know something, if only
to explain why a letter-writer like Penelope was suddenly not writing.
No doubt some of them were extremely upset, but what could they do?
They're in no position to make demands. If they complain too loudly
the MOM will obliviate them. There's no way they can even *get* to
the school. Of course when a wizard kid with big shot parents like
Draco gets hurt, it's a different story.
