Good point. When I read that I just assumed that Barty was, in 
fact, not dying at all, but that as long as he had his mother's 
appearance, he would also have her ill health and that would be 
what the Dementors picked up on.  But Azkaban is not exactly 
conducive to a long and healthy life....
