Actually, there is.  It eluded me until the umpteenth time I read it.

"At once, Voldemort's wand began to emit echoing screams of pain..." p. 665
in American edition ???  I don't know how to figure out the edition.

Wand them emits wormtails hand, then:

"...more shouts of pain..." same page.

I never really paid attention to that stuff.  Reading too fast to see what
happened (I have that problem.)
