Questions:
<1. What was Snape's "peculiar expression"? If he
<really was trying not to smile, what about this
<situation did he find so amusing?
I think he was concocting his plan to have Harry
removed from the Quidditch team- difficult not to wear
a "particular expression", as he thinks he might
succeed.
<2. Is Snape's suggestoin that Harry be removed from
<the Quidditch team reasonable?
Depends on your point of view: For Snape, anything
that can make Harry less special, popular, less "our
new celebrity", is of course reasonable. And then, it
really *is* weird that the trio is out in the corridor
without being able to give convincing explanations.
I'm fairly sure that Snape doesn't suspect Harry of
being connected with the cat accident, but he surely
suspects them of being up to some mischief. And he
*wants* to know what it is, so he simply tries to
blackmail Harry into confessing.
<3. We know Harry is not very trusting of adults. Even
<so, and leaving aside what it would do to the plot,
<do you think Harry should have told Dumbledore about
<hearing a disembodied voice no one else can hear?
First, I wouldn't include Dumbledore into the long
list of adults Harry doen't trust. But as Ron said:
Hearing voiced that nobody else can hear, isn't a good
sign, not even in the wizarding world. He is too
insecure about his own perception, maybe he thinks the
voice exists only inside his head and he's going mad.
<4. Why does the incorporeal Myrtle cause the water in
<the toilet to splash when she dives in?
Why does incorporeal air take roofs off houses and
cause tidal waves?
<5. Is Ron correct that Percy cares more about
<becoming Head Boy than he does about Ginny?
Mmh, I'm afraid so.He isn't really "caring" about
Ginny, but "taking his responsibilties as older
brother".
<7 Why wouldn't an heir to Slytherin have appeared
<sometime in the last 1000 years? Or can the heir only
<open the Chamber when there is a particular need to
<do so?
The one who can open the chamber has to be the *true*
heir which means that there obviously have been
others, but the true one is Tom Riddle.
