As the person who started the whole "eye roll" business, I feel I
should perhaps explain myself. I'm new to the board, so I don't know
everything has transpired in the past. After reading much of the
analysis, predictions, interviews with JKR, however, I noticed that
no one seemed troubled by some of the plot devices that didn't work
well for me. So I thought I'd ask about "eye rolls."
Personally, I find discussion of what "works" and what didn't work
interesting and helpful. Hearing theories about why something that
didn't work for me was really an essential plot device has made me
appreciate the books even more. Although I'm still not sold on the
house elves' dialect. :)
