Joywitch -- I'll go on record that the beloved figure who will die is 
Hagrid.  I will be shocked if it is someone else.  Hagrid has 
outlived his usefulness.  Well, almost, anyway.  He has two more jobs 
to do.  First, he has to send an envoy to the giants.  Then he has to 
die protecting Dumbledore ("I'd trust Hagrid with my life").

No way will it be Lupin.  There are too many cool plot twists that 
can involve Lupin.  It just isn't Lupin's time -- yet.
