Also -- this is a new way of handling that subject. In early 
interviews, it was always "Will you ever do an eighth book?" And 
she'd answer something to the effect of - "Well, right now I really 
don't think so, but if I ever had the urge far in the future, and 
this is unlikely, but if I ever felt the need to, maybe." She also 
once answered "I think we should stop before we get to Harry Potter 
and the Midlife Crisis." If she's had the whole thing planned from 
the beginning, there would be no room for possible HP books after #7 
if he died -- unless he fathers a child before his death and COME ON, 
do you really think that's going to happen?

But who knows -- anything could happen, she could change her mind and 
decide to kill him off after all...
