Okay!  Thank you for spoiling the movie for me!  Now I
can never watch it <sniffs>.

Just kidding.  As to Lucius not wanting to be in the
spotlight, that was the reason I thought the puppet
master theory would probably be more logical. 
Originally it might take Lucius all his wit to
manipulate Voldemort, but I doubt it'd be as difficult
now that V is downright insane.
