  Harry is a very good Seeker and a celebrity: two things he and 
Viktor have in common. Hermione  might be very interested in   
comparing Harry's experiences in these areas with Viktor's. It 
could be that she also  finds it easier to  talk about Harry 
because he's a celebrity, so talking about him when he's not 
there doesn't feel like gossip.

   Well, he *is* a famous wizard...maybe Pansy Parkinson (Rita's 
source) was on to something. But JKR is being cagey...aside 
from Lockhart, we don't know who rings Hermione's chimes.
