I have this mental picture of the exchange between Snape and Dumbledore after Fudge, McNair, the Old Guy, and the Dementors left.

  *THWAK*

S: O-OW! That bloody hurt! What is that? A salmon?

D: Severus. You must try harder to control your temper.

S: WHY HAVE YOU HIT ME WITH A FISH?

 *THWAK*

S: Thpppthhhtbbbt. YOU DID IT AGAIN!?!

D: You must endeavour to be patient, grasshopper. All will be explained in time.

S: Oh, Merlin's Balls! This is no time to wander into Zen Wizardry.

D: (thundering) And it's no time for all his kerfuffle and shemozzle you've caused.

S: (resentfully muttering to himself) kerfuffle and shemozzle... grasshopper...

D: Any further outbursts like that could endanger the Cause, Severus.

S: You and your CAUSE! I haven't seen a whit of this "greatness" from this delinquent yet -- and then in his youthful arrogance, to collaborate-

D: Severus. Don't embarrass yourself any further. You don't know what you're talking about. You've got to look beyond the surface, man! You should have learned that lesson long before now. Haven't you proved it to *yourself* in all these years?

S: (silence, a backing down stance, unwilling to verbally concede the point and yet accepting the logic)

D: You've exhausted yourself, Severus. You should go rest, perhaps take some time with your research.

 (Snape turns aside)

D: I will thank you again, Severus, for your quick thinking in caring for the children and Sirius and getting them back to the castle. As close to the Forest as they were.... as you all were... you all could have been in grave danger.

S turns at the door. "Of course. What else could I do?"

D: You could have done nothing, Severus. But you did the right thing. (He sighs.) Go along, now. I'll be wanting to meet with you and Rubeus and Minerva together tomorrow to discuss where we all stand now.

 S turns again.

D: I'll have one of the kitchen elves send down a fork supper for you. Have you a prerence?

S: You're not going to suggest salmon and crow pie?

D just laughs and waves Snape on out of the room.
