F.I.G.A.R.C. = Flitwick Is Goblin, And Real Cool

Tabouli could probably do better, but it's a start. In addition to a
badge, two sickles gets you a pair of "honorary goblin" ears.

Yup, that's wacky, alright.

Goblins seem to have a nasty demeanor (except, possibly, for Flitwick, who
may have inherited "cuter" looks from his non-goblin parent), and pointy
teeth and long pointy noses (I think-- I need an office copy of my books,
too!). House elves seem to have squashy noses. Maybe it's just all that
slamming in the oven door. (I know, that was ears, but I'm sure there's
something they do to their noses that could make them look that way.) I
don't know about their teeth.

I somehow doubt this is where Rowling is going, but it's intriguing,
anyway. And the general idea is there, even if they aren't the same
species. Goblins certainly haven't let themselves be kicked around the way
house elves have, and they really might be comparable in power. I'm hoping
Rowling will give us more info about many non-human beings in the next
three books. There's hope-- Hagrid is off to talk with the Giants, and
Harry & Co are supposed to go to a magical world (or part of the world)
that we've never seen before. (Maybe they'll get banished to Faerie for a
bit? Would be interesting foreshadowing of the possible fate of the wizard
world in general, if so.)

DO YOU PEOPLE THINK OF NOTHING ELSE????? Who will Hermione end up with?
Are the students having sex in the halls of Hogwarts? Who's cuter, Sirius
or Snape? Tune in next week, for the next episode of "As the Wizard World
Turns"!

WHO CARES????? AAARRRRGGHHHHHH!!!!!!

Sorry, Cindy, I know you didn't deserve that. But I feel much better now.
I'll try not to let it happen again. Really.

(who differs from Hermione chiefly in that she would never have even
glanced at Lockhart, much less outlined his lessons in little hearts. Not
then at 14, not now at 35. Personally, I think there may have been some
Veela in his ancestry.)
