It is probably that Rowlyng is going to play more with Ron´s envy to Harry. Ron is poor, always under the shadow of his brothers (remember what did he saw in the magic mirror?) He is always wishing to be wealthier, more famous, stronger, better, so he is jealous of Harry´s wealth and fame - and maybe - probably - he will try to conquer Hermione in the next books, but maybe she will be interested in Harry, but Harry wouldn´t return that interest ...
The kiss that she gave to Harry at the end of Goblet of Fire can be an indication - after all, Rowling plays a lot with little details that afterward grow and become important.
Altough I don´t think that Ron would betray Harry because of his
envy.
