Just for speculation purposes only! *grin*
If you could make a list of the top five most INFLUENTUAL people in
Harry's life, who would they be? I think we could easily make a
seperate list for the top five in the four-year window we see Harry's
intimate life in so far, but I think it's more of a challenge to try
and cover his entire fourteen-almost-fifteen-years.
In no particular order...
1. Hagrid - Hagrid is Harry's first real, TRUE friend. Hagrid is an
important guiding force in Harry's life, and even though Harry has
only known Hagrid for four years, Hagrid has provided the important
moral compass framework for the rest Harry's life.
2. The Dursleys - (so they're more than one person) I didn't say these
people had to be GOOD influences! The Dursleys represent everything
Harry knows he does NOT want for himself. They play a pivotal role in
his upbringing, his character, and provide a good rebounding platform
for Harry's strength and determination. Whether we like it or not,
the Dursleys in their own twisted have shaped Harry's life.
3. Ron - Harry's best friend. What more is there to say? Harry has a
special relationship with Ron he will never share with anyone else.
Ron is like a brother, and he is also important in shaping Harry.
4. Hermione - for most of the reasons as Ron's. I was almost tempted
to lump Hermione with Ron, but I believe her influence is of a
different sort. While she does have a lot of the important friendship
aspects like Ron, I tend to personally see Hermione with a bit more
guidance in her--more like Hagrid in the morality compass, and like a
sister/mother figure in her care for Harry's well-being (my mind tends
to wonder to academics here).
5. Voldemort - (I almost wrote someone else in here, but then I
remembered him--duh!) Well, what is there to say? Like the Dursleys,
Voldemort is a model of everything Harry does NOT want to be(come).
Voldemort also killed his parents, which inevitably changed his life
forever (Duh, duh, DUH!). His future battles with Moldy-Voldy will
most likely change his life some more, and past battles have
definitely left a scar (figurative and literal) with Harry already
(Cedric, rescuing Ginny, Sirius Black).
Thoughts, comments, Howlers? :-D
