A few more points to colaborate with your theory.
We know for almost sure that Slytherins and Hufflepuffs in Harry's year
are also around 10, but there is no mention to number of Ravenclaw.
Lets imagine, for a moment, that there are 40 Ravenclaw: they'd have to
be separated into two groups, and they would have class on theor own
(unlike Gryffindor et al.). That would explain why Harry never has
classes with Ravenclaw students. This example would push Harry's year's
number of students to 70, wich isn't as far from the 140 figure of
other years.
Of course, someone could say that it's half the normal number, but
Voldemort is still an unkonown in the equation. not only could we have
a baby-boom after Voldie's fall, but also he have to consider baby
killings during his reign (maybe he was not targeting Harry, but all
wizards of his age). If, for reasons unknown, V ordered babies to be
killed, it would explain why so few students are in Harry's year.
