But, doesn't everyone think that Barty Crouch Jr died in Azkaban?
IIRC, he and his dying mother switched places when his parents
visited him in Azkaban, and his mother continued to drink Polyjuice
potion until she died. Sirius tells HRH that Barty died a year after
being sent to Azkaban, and my impression was that that was common
knowledge in the wizarding world.
It's possible I'm confused here, and I don't have the book handy, but
I thought that all the deatheaters (except for Wormtail) still think
Crouch Jr. is dead (unless Voldy told them otherwise, offstage).

Jo (hoping I haven't misunderstood this whole plot point for the past
year)
