This subject, in which I had absolutely no interest, is beginning to
obsess me, to the point where I went through all 4 books last night
and found every reference to Narcissa I could find. :) I've taken into
account all your nice and perceptive comments, and I'm going to write
an essay about everything we can know about that elusive woman, and
the questions it raises. Plus, what the canon signifies in terms of
the Narcissa as 3rd Evans sister theory, or Narcissa as Muggle-born.
:)
But let me say in advance, that if she is Muggle-born, Lucius Malfoy
doesn't necessarily know about it. Perhaps they met through Voldemort.
I also agree that Lucius, as we see him now, would not waste his life
marrying a mud-blood. But, we don't really know what he was like,
perhaps even before meeting Voldemort. He could be regretting it now,
but, on the other hand, it's worked out perfectly in the eyes of the
public, beautiful wife, handsome son. The only thing wrong is Draco is
wrecking the equation by not entirely shining at Hogwarts. And, we
know there is some friction between Lucius and Narcissa over Draco.
Perhaps he blames him on her.
Of course, Lucius, as some people have pointed out, might not have
made any marriage that didn't bring him something. Who's to say
marrying a muggle-born Narcissa didn't, esecially if they met through
Voldemort. In that way he could be a hyprocrite. But as I said, these
are just theories. The real truth is probably much more boring.
But, really, there are some interesting things to be said about her.
/me gets down to studying for her last exam. After that, the Narcissa
essay.
