What Snape knew and when, Revisited! Rejoice!

Ah yes, the mystifying Snape.  It was me who posted the message last 
week about Snape and what he'd overheard while under the cloak-- I 
was wondered why, since he knows now that Sirius is an animagus, he 
hadn't shared this information with the MoM.  
However, a very observant member (I think it was Cindy) pointed out 
that Albus probably told Snape to keep his mouth shut.  

There's one question I still have about that whole episode though:

This part puzzles me, because Hermione is trying to convince Lupin 
that Scabbers can't be an animagus,because Pettigrew isn't on the 
list-- but Sirius isn't on the list of animagi either, and he 
obviously is one.
I just wondered why Hermione didn't think of this-- it would make 
more sense that she'd believe Lupin, because after seeing that Sirius 
is an animagus, she would have realized that not all animagi are 
registered on that list.
