into the entrance hall cupboard. The entrance hall would
conveniently be empty for most of the day after breakfast, and is
presumably quite central. By discreetly making sure it was empty at
a certain time, judicious use of the Time Turner would enable
Hermione to use it as many "times" as she needed to. I always
thought she was gasping when she popped up after that class in PoA
because she'd just run up from the Entrance Hall. >
I think they're both good theories-- your guess is as good as mine!
Although it can't have been programmed to put Hermione in the closet,
because when she "arrives" with Harry, they materialize in the
entrance hall itself, and then Hermione drags Harry into the closet.
So maybe it's programmed to always put her in the entrance hall. But
if always puts her in the Hall itself, wouldn't the other students
have seen her popping out of thin air? However-- on second thought,
this is wizarding school after all, they're used to things like that
happening! If anyone asked she could always tell them that she was
taking Apparating lessons.
So, do you think the time-turner can be used to go into the future?
