I do think they wear out. I think it was in CoS where it states the the Unicorn Hair was sticking out of the end of
Ron's wand. However...V still has his same wand, and it's pretty old. Perhaps it depends on how well you take care
of it. Ollivander made a point that Krum (think it was Krum), in GoF, had taken exceptional care of his wand...no
smudges.

Interesting, how Ron ended up with another unicorn hair wands. I wonder if all the Weasleys have unicorn hair? I
wonder if you'll end up with the same make-up though if you go for a replacement. Would you end up with the same
wood, and hair from the same creature? That might pose a problem for Harry...since Fawkes only gave two feathers.

I think she got that wand her first time. Ollivander says, "It seems only yesterday she was in here herself, buying
her first wand. Ten and a quarter inches long, swishy, made of willow. Nice wand for charmwork."
