I've seen several references on this list to Neville's weakness in magic,
implications that he's almost a squib, and questions about his assignment to
Gryffindor.

On the contrary, I think that Neville will yet prove to be quite a powerful
wizard--or powerful enough. It seems to me that his "forgetfulness" [what a
horrible irony] is the result either of the trauma of knowing what happened to
his parents, or the result of memory charms put on him by his relatives in an
attempt to help him get over it. Neville's parents were tortured "after
Voldemort's downfall" so N. would have been a bit older than Harry was
when his parents were killed--thus Neville might have more intense memories
than Harry did [until Harry became aware of what happened to his parents].

I believe that Neville will have a large role in the upcoming war against Lord
V. Somehow, he will have a talent that helps defeat evil. And I would really,
really like to see his parents cured and restored...
