Is he? Not in my copy of PS - he is introduced as a 'burly 5th year 
student'.

He is introduced by age in a later book - as 'a 17 year old' ... so 
co-ordinating that cannon reference might get us back into the 'how 
old is everyone' debates so perhaps Ill keep quiet...
