I've been persuaded to crawl out from under the table and dust off the Howler
soot. ;)
I like Cindy's reverse-memory-charm-for-testimony theory as the rationale for
Neville's timidity, and I can definitely see Crouch, Sr. stooping to such a
thing, but I wonder if someone may have tried to repair the damage after he gave
his testimony with a regular old memory charm, causing the forgetfulness that we
see in the poor kid today. Other than the formidible grandmother, we don't know
for sure that the rest of Neville's family is all that competent, actually.
Whoever did the charm could have been as lame as Lockheart, after all (leaving
out, for the moment, that Lockheart was actually *good* at memory charms.)
Cindy, would that be enough less obvious for you?
This would mean that I'm trying to join both D.E.P.R.E.C.I.A.T.I.O.N. and the
as-yet unnamed reverse-memory-charm group, though. Hm. Is that allowed?
(tosses 4 sickles into the air and ducks for cover again....)
