Although Narcissa is named after a flower, I'm not sure she's an
Evans. Wasn't Lily of Muggle parentage? It seems unlikely to me
that Lucius would marry a Muggle-born, after all the Malfoy hype
about "pure blood."
Also, what if the reason for Narcissa's sweet treatment of Draco and
JKR's silence about her dark activities is that she's not really
dark. I can't keep the time lines straight, but is it possible that
V's rise to power came after her marriage to Lucius? And if so,
perhaps she sent Draco to Hogwarts to enhance his chances of not
becoming a Death Eater. She could be the intimidated good-guy of the
Malfoy family. Maybe that's why Draco likes his evil father more
