Just my two Knuts:
Anyone who "obviously" belongs in the House to which they were
assigned at least begins as flat. They become rounder if we begin to
wonder if they're in the "right" house. Hermione and Harry were
round to begin with, by this definition. The crux of the Draco
argument, in these terms, is: is he round (in which case he'll do
something un-Slytherin, showing either loyalty or bravery and thus
marking himself as Hufflepuffy or Griffendorish; those of us who
think he's a bit of a brain have already tried to round him by giving
him Ravenclaw traits) or flat (Slytherin to the end)?
Some of the rounder edges of the Weasley brothers have come about by
their ambition to better themselves - a Slytherinesque trait.
Snape is all Slytherin, right? Ah, but he's Loyal to Dumbledore -
Hufflepuffy. (Ditto McGonnigal, Gryffendor, loyalty, and
Hufflepuffiness.)
This is of course not the only determiner of dimensionality in
characters, but it seems fairly consistent.

Sorry, pet peeve (I'm a math teacher) - for all the interesting
questions in mathematics, there is no One Right True and Only answer,
either. That only works for arithmetic. Probably isn't true in
Arithmancy, either (veering back to topic, anyone have any wild
guesses what goes on in that class?).
