Robes

   I'm a bit confused on the wizarding attire, so try to help me...and 
be nice! :) Okay, so I know in the movie, Harry and Co. where their 
robs like an actual robe...but did it not say in PS/SS that the witch 
in the robe shop slipped the robes _over_ Harry's head? When it said 
that, I immediately got the impression that the robes were more or 
less like dresses. And therefore, the older witches and wizards didn't 
know how to dress like Muggles because Muggles wore trousers and 
shirts and things like that. So, when I saw the movie, I was slightly 
disturbed. 
   Set me straight!!!!
