I really think that Snape hates Harry and that this hatred is mostly
based on jealousy. He sees the same disregard for rules and
disrepect for authority in Harry that he saw in James as well as the
whole thing about being a star Quidditch player. I also suspect
that Snape had few real friends at Hogwarts whereas both James and
Harry's friends have shown themselves to be truly loyal and
resourceful.
Going back to an earlier conversation about Snape's insecurities, he
had to cope with a highly popular kid who seemed to get away with
(attempted) murder in James and now sees his son getting the same
preferential treatment.
I also believe that Snape has never allowed himself to look at these
feelings (about James and Harry) from an adult point of view. I'm
particularly thinking about the way he turned on Harry at the end of
PoA - there was nothing adult about his behaviour and it was
certainly NOT the image which the adult Snape has of himself.
