Was Lily Potter a gorgon?

Is Lily REALLY from an entirely muggle family? What makes you so
certain? As we know only too well, JKR has many more twists in the
tail - could Lily be adopted, possibly because of her gorgonic
secret?
If her mother was a gorgon, indeed, wouldn't be a bad idea to give
her up at birth as you indicate, probably not a good idea to getyour
own daughter stoned at birth.
Anyhoo, it doesn't necessarily follow that she would have turned
everyone to stone in Potterworld, eg. Lupin's control of his
werewolfiness with Snape's potion.
Is that reaching too far or what ;)
