Katze asked about how manuy generations of pure blood wizardry are required before one is deemed "pure blood". In CoS, ernie macmillain says that he can trace his family back over 9 generations of witches and wizards, and his "blood is as pure as anybody's".
He's either nevous and lying and defenseive, or he's telling the truth, and 9 generations are enoguh. If the wizarding world counts generations the way mugles do, and given that we haven't seen anythin to counter the idea that witches can become prenant at approximately the same ages as muggle women, that's under 300 years.
