I cannot escape the idea that Neville's pet frog is more than just a
pet. Could Trevor be a brother/cousin/family member that Neville
keeps not only to protect but also for comfort?...

Neville and Trevor have got me thinking...

We're first introduced to Neville, in relation to his toad - "Gran,
I've lost my toad again." JfP9&3/4, PS/SS and again later in the same
chapter "I've lost him! He keeps getting away from me!"

Is there a reason why we never see Trevor on the Hogwarts Express or
do we?

Is Neville misplacing Trevor in keeping with his character or is this
toad a bit of a slippery character?

It's curious that from the note clamped in Hermione's hand describing
the Basilisk, it states, '...This snake...is born from a chicken's
egg, hatched beneath a TOAD' CS, CS

Also, Aragog, 'CROAKED(term often used with reference to toads)...The
body of the girl who was killed was discovered in a bathroom.'
Aragog, CS

And, the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets is indeed found in
Moaning Myrtle's toilet.

On the penultimate page of PS/SS, 'Neville's toad was found lurking
in a corner of the toilets' Curiouser and curiouser! Or is it just
coincidence as toads would naturally be found LURKING in a damp place?

Neville's grandmother is described as 'formidable' AtHE, GF ...could
Trevor be her or related to Myrtle?

Finally, in the Gryffindor dormitory when Harry & Ron are discussing
the Chamber of Secrets "...that girl who died. Aragog said she was
found in a bathroom," said Harry, IGNORING NEVILLE'S snuffling snores
from the corner." Aragog CS.

What's the significance? Is there more to Neville and his little
familiar than meets the eye?

Am I seeing things or through his name could there possibly be a
foreseen destiny for nEVILle???
