According to the above-cited page, both James and Lily were Gryffindor.

If being Head of a House means that you were in that house as a 
student, which it seems to, then Prof. McGonagall was in Gryffindor 
and Snape was in Slytherin.  (Actually, I think we know that Snape 
was in Slytherin from some of Sirius's comments about their school 
time together, but I can't find the citation at the moment - someone 
else with a better memory want to confirm or deny that?)
